Changelog

Sculptly is in private beta and ships in small pieces. Each entry below is work that actually landed in the codebase — fixes and deletions included, not only the parts that read well.

Describe it, FBX export, face-count budgets and humanoid rigging

v1.3.0

A text prompt that draws a reference image first, FBX for Unity and Unreal, a face-count budget on paid exports, and auto-rigging for humanoid characters.

New Features

  • Describe it: no image to hand? Type a sentence, check the reference image it draws (redraw as often as the daily cap allows), then build the 3D model from it. It is two steps, not native text-to-3D.
  • FBX export: a paid export format next to OBJ, STL and 3MF, with UVs and the base-colour texture embedded, scaled to 1 m for Unity and Unreal. Opens in Blender 5.2.
  • Face-count budget: pick 50k, 20k, 10k or 5k faces on any paid export. A budgeted FBX carries vertex colours instead of a texture. If the budget cannot be met you get an error, never a bigger file.
  • Rig this character: upright humanoid characters can be rigged, with a walk and a run. Animals and objects are refused and the credits are refunded.

Real showcase pieces, mobile navigation, and a security fix

v1.2.0

An 8-piece Features showcase built from real generations, a mobile hamburger menu, and the removal of an unauthenticated internal tool.

New Features

  • Features showcase: 8 real generated pieces (mythology series, jade-antique carvings, and dragon/cute-toy collectibles) in a live, user-rotatable 3D preview — every piece was actually run through the production pipeline, not rendered or stock art.
  • Mobile navigation: added a hamburger menu and footer tool links so the 5 free tools are reachable from a phone, which they previously weren't.

Removed

  • /ai playground: an internal testing page that was reachable without authentication and returned error messages naming internal environment variable names when its API keys weren't configured. It carried no product value for Sculptly, so it was deleted rather than gated.

5 free browser-based GLB tools

v1.1.0

Voxelizer, mesh repair, mold generator, and scene composer — all local, no account required.

New Features

  • GLB voxelizer: convert a GLB into a voxel mesh entirely in a Web Worker, no upload.
  • GLB mesh repair: detect and patch open holes, then export to OBJ/STL — the fix most single-image reconstructions need before they're print-ready.
  • GLB mold generator: build a two-part mold shell around any model, with a filename-based content-safety filter.
  • GLB scene composer: arrange multiple models in one scene and export the combined GLB.
  • One-click OBJ/STL export added to the mesh-repair tool.

All five run locally in the browser — no signup, no credits, no AI calls involved.

Launch — image-to-3D generation

v1.0.0

Sculptly opens with the core generator, credit system, and Stripe billing.

Core Features

  • Image-to-3D generator: upload a photo, sketch, or concept image and get back a real GLB mesh via TRELLIS on Replicate.
  • Credit ledger: append-only credit accounting with a signup grant and pay-as-you-go packs.
  • Stripe billing: subscription and one-time credit-pack checkout.

Fixes

  • Production auth was accidentally hardcoded to a localhost callback URL — every signup was locked out until this was caught and fixed the same day.
  • Three real bugs found by manually running the full generate flow end to end before calling it done.
