About

Sculptly is a small image-to-3D tool, built to say what it can't do.

Sculptly turns a photo, sketch, or concept image into a real 3D mesh. Alongside the generator there are eleven free browser tools — voxelizer, mesh repair, OBJ to STL conversion, STL to 3MF conversion, an STL simplifier, mold generator, scene composer, splat viewer, a GLB viewer, print cost calculator, and lithophane generator — that run locally and need no account.

Who builds it

One person, working on it directly. There is no team behind this page, no company story worth telling yet, and nothing raised. Sculptly is in private beta: registration is gated by an invite code, and the site still runs on its temporary workers.dev address rather than a bound domain. Everything you read here describes what the code does today, not what a launch announcement would like it to do.

How generation actually works

Every model comes from firtoz/trellis running on Replicate — a third-party model, not something built in-house. That's not a hidden detail: our comparison page names the same pipeline and where it genuinely falls short of bigger, text-to-3D-capable competitors like Meshy and Tripo.

Why the limits get top billing

Single-image reconstruction can't see the back of an object. That means some meshes come back with open holes or non-manifold geometry — that's physics, not a bug, and it's why the mesh-repair tool exists as a free tool rather than a paid add-on. Pixel-art hard edges and detailed mechanical surfaces are the two cases most likely to lose fidelity; we say so on the homepage instead of waiting for a support ticket to bring it up.
